About Sun Bonnet Sue!

Sun Bonnet Sue has been around since the late 1800’s in post cards, advertising, books and magazines.  She later became a popular applique quilt design.  Applique is the process of cutting the material out and then sewing either by hand or machine the pattern on the quilt square.  I machine quilt my Sun Bonnet Sue applique onto the quilt square.

Her “boyfriend” is called Overall Sam.  Quilts are often made with both Sun Bonnet Sue and Overall Sam.
